CHAPTER 109 He's sulking.

The big bad Lycan King. Forest green eyes, royalty-level ego, and the capacity to decapitate a man with one flick of his wrist.

And he's fucking sulking.

"Do you have to walk like that?" I say, tossing him a sideways glare. "You're not sneaking into war. You're going to a market, Enoch. Relax your shoulders before your veins burst and someone calls the medics." Behind us, two guards trail like shadows, stone-faced and all rigid. The third one trips on a cobblestone because I might've looked back and smiled. Oops.

"I don't like people looking at you." He says it like that, dead serious. As if we didn't just bribe a palace doctor so I could walk in here high as a kite post-coma.

I roll my eyes. "I'm not wearing a bikini, you overgrown psychopath. It's literally a cardigan and jeans." "You look good in cardigans," he mutters as if it's a goddamn death sentence. Oh my fucking God.

66 "You've seenhalf-dead, crying, covered in forest grand your blood, and this is what makes you... possessive?" I deadpan, ducking past a stall with dried herbs. Cardigans?" He shrugs. "Makes your ass look biteable." he turns towhp's standing a few inches by his side, a smirk edging to slip out of his lips.

There it is. My brain actually short-circuits. Heat floods my cheeks and I bite my tongue to stop myself from squealing. This is so like teenager that just got her first crush behavior, Taryn, what are you on to? I smack his arm, but his smug grin only stretches wider, like the beast is finally getting his afternoon entertainment. "Do not sexualize autumn wear. What did sweaters ever do to you?" "They hid you from me, baby, Traitors." I bite the smile threatening to slip out of my lips. Asshat.

The market's alive. Bustling and warm. It's a weird contrast to the cold iron tension that's been clinging to us for the past-what, weeks now? But here, under the open sky, with the scent of grilled meat mixing with dried citrus and burnt sugar, it almost feels normal. Like we're just two people. Not a betrayed king and a girl who accidentally (maybe) almost published his biggest secret. There's no tension.

1/4 CHAPTER 109 This was the sthing we did back then when Ser and I planned the ball in Riversrtone Pack. When we were off to get smaterials. A smile plays on my lips. We stroll past a spice stall, and Enoch's hand finds my waist like he owns the entire section of air around me. People whisper, of course they do. The guards behind us aren't exactly subtle. But no one really knows who he is. That's the fun part.

"You're supposed to blend in," I hiss when his hand slips down a little too low for ' public-appropriate'.

He leans down to my height, his mouth onto my ear that my entire body freezes up. "I am blending. With your hip." A shiver of electricity immediately courses through my vein's.

I swear to the moon goddess, if he doesn't quit touching me- "Let's recreate it," I say suddenly. A quick idea pops in my head. The entire reason I brought him here was for him to remember those days. When he had amnesia, when I was nothing but an omega. When we were simply two people buying materials off of tis huge market.

He blinks at me, clenching my hip with those large hands. "Recreate what?" "Riverstone. The Imperial guards. That day we ran for our lives. I still remember the look on your face when you realized you were faster thanbut still didn't leave me, you know, for that stalker." "I should've," he says flatly.

I ignore the jab and grab his hand. "Con." And then I run.

He doesn't hesitate. The bastard actually laughs-a low, amused rumble I haven't heard since before the betrayal, before the blood.

We rush between stalls, boots skidding over the gravel, past lanterns swinging in the breeze, spices flying in the air as vendors shout behind us.

"Stop them!" one of the guards yells behind us. Well, back then they were chasing us as suspects. Right now, they're chasing us like babysitters who lost their kids.

"Oh no, the King and his Omega are fugitives again," I say tically, heaving breaths as I keep dragging him into a small alley.

"Your ass is gonna get us caught," Enoch growls, but he doesn't sound mad. He sounds high on this. Just like me. We duck behind a huge stall owned by a massive old lady who's so busy yelling at someone about expired/dates on pickled eggs she doesn't notice us crouched behind her cabbage crates.

I look up at him. He's panting. Smiling.

It's the kind of smile that makesforget how badly he can fuck someone up.

2/4 CHAPTER 109 "This is insane," I breathe.

He leans down, brushing his lips against my ear. "So's the way you're looking atright now." Fuck.

Before I can react, the vendor next to us catches sight of us and yells, "Oi! You two back there! Get outta my cucumbers!" I grab Enoch's arm and bolt again. Losing my breath. The sky's turning grey indicating the massive downpour later. Perfect, just like back then.

More running. More shouting. And eventually, more laughing-full-on, breathless, forehead-touching, can't- breathe laughing. I clench his hand in mine, and his wraps around mine tightly.

We slow near the quieter side of the market, still panting, flushed from the adrenaline.

However, it didn't take long before a voice behind interrupts us.

Spunkass guy with too much gel in his hair leans over his stall and says to me, You're the prettiest girl I've seen all day. Take a discount, love. For a beauty like you, the herbs are free." ! blink once. Twice. Before I finally register what he said and a smile breaks out of my Hips. "Aw, that's so sweet-' "No." a low, lethal rumble shakes the silence of the alley and glance back at Enoch who's now on his full height. A murderous look plastered on his face., This idiot, we're getting a freaking discount! "She doesn't need discounts," he says, stepping forward like a mafia boss in expensive. boots. "We'll pay double." "Wha-double?" the poor dude squeaks. Enoch raises his brows, "You know whar? Triple. Everything for triple the price." He mutters, taking out a bunch of gold coins in his pocket. I look around the place and everyone is looking at us already.

Shit. We're gonna get robbed if he keeps doing this shit.

"You think I need your approval to see she's beautiful?" Enoch snarls. "You're lucky I don't rip your fucking throat out and hang it beside your little garlic braids, Romeo." Jesus Christ.

"Ignore him," I say to the vendor, cheeks on fire as I yank Enoch away. "He has rabies. We're getting him tested next week." The guy is frozen on the spot as Enoch won't stop staring at him even as I pull him away. This so freaking immature. It's like babysitting a King. The Lycan King moreover! Enoch keeps grumbling. I catch phrases like "fucking perv" and "my Omega" as we walk, and I nearly trip from laughing.

3/4 CHAPTER 109 "You're impossible," I say, brushing past a fabric stall.

He trails his fingers down my arm. "You love it." "I tolerate it." He leans down and whispers, "You tolerate my tongue, too?" "ENOOCH." I'm going to murder him. Or jump him.

Or both.

Eventually, we stop.

And we're standing right in front of a stall that looks like it hasn't changed singe Riverstone. Swooden frame. Scrooked sign. Sfaint scent of cedar and pepper oil.

I freeze.

He does too.

"This is it," I whisper.

It is. The place we once hid. When everything was kpow he The as simple Whehi dhan't content is on novelenglish.net!

was royalty. When he didn't know I was his mate. When we were just e two fucked up people clinging to each other in a world too big to care.

Enoch's hand tightens around mine.

And for a second-just one-we don't say anything at all.

Suddenly, bushes shift behind us.
