"George, are you that eager to die?"
"Yes, | am," he spat defiantly. "I want to die, right here and now. So go ahead, kill me! At least I'll have your
father for company on the road to hell. | won't be lonely."

Until now, George thought he feared nothing, not even death itself. But as the reality of his situation sank in, he
realized he wasn't nearly as fearless as he'd thought.
The pill Suzy gave George wasn't designed to kill him instantly. Instead, it inflicted a harrowing sensation of total
paralysis, leaving him powerless. The only senses he retained were his sight and hearing, while the rest of his
body was plunged into agonizing numbness.
He watched helplessly as the men carried out Suzy's orders, dragging him to a desolate spot that resembled a
back garden. A particularly sharp blade was brought out, and the two men began discussing where to start.
"Let's begin with his head," one suggested. "A single chop at the neck, and he'll be off to the afterlife in no time."
"I think we should start with his feet," the other countered. "He's still alive-let's give him a few more minutes to
take one last look at the world."
"Take a look at what? What's the point? To make him regret it? A guy like him doesn't regret anything. If he did,
he wouldn't have kept his mouth shut for so long."
"Exactly. I've seen stubborn people before, but never someone this stubborn. Our boss gave him so many
chances, and he didn't appreciate a single one. Now look at him-about to die in pieces."
After sdeliberation, the second man's suggestion won out. They decided to start with his feet.
Although George couldn't feel pain, when they waved his bloodied right leg in front of his face, his mind couldn't
