Chapter 208 A glimmer of amusement flashed in Randell's eyes. Two people, one membership card, and both claiming it's theirs? Now, this was something he'd never seen before.
"Mr. Hoffman, what should we do?" one of the staff asked.
Before Randell could answer, Suzan jumped in. "Just check who owns the card. It's under my fiancé, Mitchell. He gave it to me, so where do you think my sister got hers?" Effie, completely unruffled, replied, "I opened my own account." "Well, since both of you have your stories, why don't we just make a call and settle it?" Randell suggested, grinning to himself. Free -who could resist? What kind of wife did Lyman end up with? Randell thought. This was getting interesting.

She remembered how she'd suggested opening the club membership. At first, she wanted it in her own name, but Mitchell insisted it should be under the company's, claiming there were special perks and that it would be easier for accounting. She'd relented, thinking she was doing it for the good of the company-and for him. But she'd paid for it out of her own bonus.
Just then, Mitchell picked up his phone, and the doorman explained the situation.
"So, who does the membership belong to, sir?" the doorman asked. "Who do you want to let in?" There was a sudden silence on Mitchell's end-maybe he was hesitating.
Of course, Suzan wasn't about to let Effie win. Not unless she wanted to lose face entirely.
"Mitchell, I'm here, everything's fine," Suzan called out, her voice sweet but loaded with meaning. Mitchell caught the hint. He'd been about to say the card belonged to Effie, but Suzan's words changed his mind. "Let Suzan in," he said.
Suzan's face lit up with satisfaction. She turned to Effie, her smile smug. "Sorry, sis, but the truth speaks for itself. I really didn't expect you to keep Mitchell's membership card after you'd broken up. What's the deal? Trying to get something for free? Or do you just miss him that much? You're not together anymore-can't you just move on?" Randell's eyes sparkled. There was definitely more to this story than met the eye. But could this really deliver? Effie let out a cold laugh. "You're the only one who likes digging through garbage for scraps." With that, she pulled out her wallet and turned to the doorman. "I'll open a new account right now. Under my own name." Shirley stared at her, jaw practically on the floor. "Effie, the membership here costs two hundred thousand dollars! Not two hundred!"
Suzan chimed in, feigning concern.

Suzan didn't go inside. She wanted to see Effie's card get declined to Watch fail, right in front of everyone. But to Suzan's dismay, Effie's application went through without a hitch.
When the doorman handed the new card to Effie with a respectful mod, Suzan's face turned so dark it looked like a storm cloud. Effie glanced at her, a sly smile tugging at her lips. "Oh, by the way-"
