Chapter 104 Chapter 104 Aden Without hesitating, I pull a pen from a cup on my desk and slide it across the desk to Brooklyn.
Hudson tries to grab it, but she swats his hand away, snagging the pen and hastily signing her nto the bottom of the fourth page.
"Brooklyn," Hudson exclaims, putting his head in his hands. "What did you just do—" "It's everything I've ever wanted, Hudson," she says matter of factly. "A way to help my family, to stand on my own two feet. And you and I-we can still be..." she hesitates.
She shakes her head, not able to get the words out.
But when she turns to me, her expression is grateful.
"Thank you, Aden," she says, her words sounding genuine. "I'll do everything I can." Hudson pushes his chair back hard as he gets to his feet, storming towards the door.
"I'll never forgive you for this, Dad," he says, staring athard as he yanks the door open. "She was the only one I had on my side, and you took her from me." As much as I know this is all just business, I feel the smallest tinge in my heart for Hudson.
My son has never really had anyone who understood him. Certainly not me.
But for a while, he had Brooklyn.

"Don't," I tell her, my voice soft.
She looks up at me, confused.
"Don't let him make you feel bad for doing what's right for you," I tell her. "You made the right choice. And I'll take care of you. I won't let you get hurt." She nods in agreement. But still, she seems hesitant.
"Besides," I continue, producing a second document from the top drawer of the desk. "We're not finished with our business today." Brooklyn frowns, leaning forward and picking up the document. She glances over it, confused.
"This is an NDA. What's it for?" she asks, looking up at me.
"It's a contract," I explain. "For an additional service I'd like you to perform. One that will be...quite lucrative." She returns her eyes to the contract, blinking in shock at the large number that's printed on the second page. "What-what for?" she asks, meeting his eyes again. "What do you wantto do?" I place my hands evenly on the desk, bringing my face closer to hers.
"I want you to be my mistress." Brooklyn goes stock still, like she's unable to move or react.
I hold her eyes and then rove lower, to her mouth, her breasts, her legs crossed neatly in the chair, before dragging slowly back to her face.
"And I'm willing to pay handsomely for the privilege." I can't help but enjoy seeing her react like this, frozen in the chair before me, her mouth slightly agape, her sapphire eyes wide with shock.
A curl of her unruly red hair has fallen loose of its messy ponytail and into her face.
I press my hands harder against the desk, avoiding the ridiculous urge to reach forward and brush it behind her ear.
I knew she'd react like this, of course I'd arranged it so she would.
Yes, I made all of my previous girlfriends sign NDAs, and I'd treated our relationships in many ways as business relationships.
But I'd never started a relationship this way.
The fact was that I'd lost control too many times with this girl-that disaster of an interrogation in the basement, punching that kid at the stables- Even kissing her last night-damn, I had never meant for it to go that far.
I wanted to keep kissing her, had to tear myself away.
It had been clear since the beginning that my wolf wanted her. Maybe even needed her.
I thought fighting it was the answer, but I realized that wasn't true.
Giving in wasn't giving up. It was just another way to get control.

Well. Two birds with one stone.
Brooklyn is still staring at me, completely blindsided, as I lean further forward across the desk.
"It's a good deal Brooklyn," I assure her, holding her gaze. "Almost as good as the one I gave Jayde. You should take it." My words wake her up then, a pulse passing through her as she blinks and focuses on me.
Suddenly, rage lights her face and she crumples the contract in her hands.
I can't help the smirk that quirks the corners of his lips.
Frankly, I like her all riled up.
"You pig," she snarls, pushing her chair away from her her as she jumps to her feet. "I would never be your whore-never-"
"Not a whore, Brooklyn," I interrupt, standing up and crossing my arms, looking at her levelly. "It's a position with respect-just with slegal ties attached, and sfinancial incentives for you. I've done this many times and the women with whom I've had previous contracts will tell you that it was a generous arrangement-" "Oh?" she bites back. "Would Jayde say that? Jayde, who showed up in my room at midnight with a black eye? Would she call you generous?" I lower my brows at her, letting her know she's on dangerous ground.
"Jayde betrayed me, Brooklyn. I would not suggest you follow her path." "Oh, I don't think you have to worry about that," she snaps, her eyes narrowed in rage.
"I would never be your girlfriend. Not in a million years." I smile at her magnanimously,
leaning forward and speaking in kind tones, like to a child. "You're upset, Why don't you take stto think it over? Really consider the offer." en She says nothing, just glares atlike she'd like to rip my heart out before spinning and stalking from the room.
