Chapter 289:
The four of them sat in silence for what felt like an eternity. Around noon, Tristan received a call informing him
that he was needed for an urgent operation. Before leaving in a hurry, he told Emily to contact him immediately
if Stella woke up.
RK remained in place, showing no intention of moving. Meanwhile, the company was likely in chaos, with
employees waiting for their president's return. Aden, worried that RK might starve, went downstairs to buy
lunch. Remembering Emily, he grabbed an extra meal for her as well.
When Aden returned, he placed the food in front of RK, who ignored it. He then set Emily’s lunch in front of her,
but she, too, didn’t touch it.
“Hey, what's wrong with the two of you? If you don’t eat, you're going to faint. If that happens, how will you be
there when Stella wakes up? She’s not waking up right away—she needs rest. When she does wake up, she’s
going to scold you for not taking care of yourselves,” Aden said, trying to lighten the mood.
Still, neither of them responded. The heavy silence persisted.

“Con, will this help wake her up? Both of you are being childish. Stella wouldn't want to see you like this.
You're making it harder for everyone,” Aden added, his frustration evident.
Emily slowly reached for her food. Tears fell into the lunch box as her trembling hands struggled to hold the
cutlery. Aden, worried she might drop it, kept an eye on her but didn’t intervene. At least she was eating.
As Emily ate in silence, she glanced at RK, who remained motionless, sitting like a statue.
“Hey, did you hear me? If you don’t eat, you're just going to make things harder. Do you really want to make it
difficult for Stella? Can she wake up if you fall apart like this?” Emily’s voice cracked as she spoke, her frustration
mounting.
RK still didn’t move.
“What about Alia and Adrian? You've got to think about them, too! Stella is still unconscious, but if you fall apart,
what will happen to those two kids?!” Emily’s words finally seemed to reach RK. He looked at the food in front of
him, then slowly picked it up and began to eat.
Aden couldn't help but feel proud of his ability to bring people to their senses. He had a knack for getting
through to them, it seemed.

As the evening approached, RK finally spoke. “Aden, take Emily home.”
“No! I'm not leaving! | want to be here when Stella wakes up. Tonight is crucial,” Emily protested, her
stubbornness showing.
But RK was determined. “Take her home,” he repeated firmly.
Aden had no choice. Emily was exhausted, and despite her protests, he dragged her out of the hospital.
“Why are you takingaway? | don’t want to leave!” Emily resisted, but Aden persisted.
“Do you really think staying here will help RK? Can't you see he’s barely holding it together? If you sit there and
wait, do you think Stella will wake up any faster?” Aden argued as he pushed her into the car.

They drove in silence to Emily’s apartment. When they arrived, Aden let out a long sigh of relief. “Hey, we're
here,” he said gently.
But when he turned to look at Emily, he realized she had fallen asleep. Aden smiled softly. She had tried so hard
to stay strong, but her tears had finally worn her out. She had cried until she was too exhausted to keep going.
Aden pulled out his phone and played on it until the battery died, then lazily set it aside. He leaned back in the
car seat, glancing at Emily’s peaceful sleeping face. There were still traces of tears on her cheeks. Slowly, Aden
began to feel sleepy himself.
As he drifted off, he reflected on everything that had happened. Lately, it seemed like he had done more good
deeds than he had in his entire life. His past had been filled with bitterness and grief, especially after Alice's
death, which had strained his relationship with RK. For a long time, he had hated everything and everyone.
But deep down, Aden had never truly hated RK. He just didn’t know how to deal with the overwhelming
emotions. He had armored himself with anger and sadness, shutting everyone out.
Yet, as tpassed, Aden realized that hating the world didn’t make him happy. He longed to return to simpler,
more innocent times. When RK sought him out at the cemetery, Aden had known that RK still cared for him. It
had been a turning point, and despite all the chaos that followed, Aden was grateful.
Even through the difficulties, life didn’t seem as bleak as it once had. It was good to have surprises like these.
