Emma’s eyes darkened. But, Robert said he felt more disgusted the more she acted like that.

Emma felt her heart trembling violently and thought, ‘How could Robert say such things about me?”

“Robert...” she said, her eyes filled with tears. But Robert still stood in place, his eyes cold to the bone. “Emma,

from now on, there will be no connections between us.”

Enima cried even louder and thought, ‘Is Robert really going to cut ties with me? Is he really going to abandon

me?’

Fear welled up inside her. If even Robert abandoned her, she would have no other connections.

She reached out and hugged Robert's leg, pleading, “Robert, please don’t leavebehind, okay?”

Seeing Emma like this, Robert felt utterly hopeless. His tone was fierce as he said, “Get out of here.”

But Emma didn’t budge. Getting desperate, Robert kicked his leg forcefully and threw her off.

Pointed at himself, Robert said in an extremely angry tone, “I must be blind, thinking you were innocent and kind

before. It turns out that your kindness was all an act. I've really seen through you.”

“Robert, | didn't mean to. It was just an accident. Will you really denycompletely just because of this one

thing?” Emma said.

Hearing this, Robert looked at Emma with bloodshot eyes. It was as if he had never known her. “One thing? In

your eyes, this is just one thing?” He felt pain in his chest again and covered it, his tone filled with disbelief.

Then, like a volcanic eruption, he pointed at Emma and roared in anger. “Do you have any idea that it took my

father away from me? Do you think an excuse like that can make up for all of this?

“You're ruthless. Fine, let's not talk about that. Emma, if you ever truly cared abouta little, you wouldn't be

desperately trying to argue right now, but sincerely say sorry to me.”

As Robert said the last sentence, his face twitched uncontrollably for his anger had reached its peak.

Emma looked up

at him. She had indeed never said it. Too nervous and afraid that Robert would abandon her, she tried to argue

against everything. She argued so much that she forgot to say sorry to him.

Emma thought, ‘Even if | throw caution to the wind and say sorry to him, he wouldn't forgive me, right? Instead,

he would probably hateeven more.’

“You only think about yourself,” Robert said, feeling utterly powerless. Even if he wanted to deceive himself, the

truth was right there in front of him-how could he possibly lie to himself?

“Emma, from now on, there is no more connection between us. This is my final act of leniency towards you.”

With that, he steeled himself, clenched the USB stick in his hand, and walked away.

Emma's eyes were filled with hatred as she watched his retreating figure. Clenching her fists tightly, Emma told

herself that all of these was caused by Elysia.

If it weren't for her giving the evidence to Robert, none of this would have happened.

Wait, evidence! Emma suddenly realized something. Robert had the evidence of her harming Matthew. If he

handed it over to the police or let others know, she couldn't accept that.

Watching his blurry figure, she wanted to chase after him and destroy the evidence in his hand, but her body

was too weak

to move.

Robert walked all the way back to the Davis residence. By the the arrived, it was already dark. Nora was

pacing anxiously at the entrance of the residence.

She had just returned and didn’t know where he had gone as she went to handle company affairs early in the

morning. The domestic staff told her that he left in a hurry, but didn’t know what he was going for.

She didn’t pay much attention at first, thinking he might cback soon. But as night fell and he still hadn't

returned, she began to worry.

In the past, this wouldn't have been a problem, but ever since Matthew had passed away, Robert's emotions had

been unstable. She was afraid that he might do something foolish if he couldn't bear it.

She looked around anxiously, and just as she was about to mobilize the staff to search for him, she saw a figure

staggering towards her in the distance. It surely was Robert.

She quickly went up to him and embraced him. “You naughty boy, where have you been? Do you know how I'm

worried about you?”

Feeling the warmth of her embrace, Robert hugged her back when tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

“Nora, I'm sorry...

Only then did Nora realize that something was wrong with Robert. She gently patted his back and created a

small gap between them to take a closer look at him.

His handsfeatures were pale, and his eyes were bloodshot from crying. Seeing him like this, Nora felt her

heart ached. “Robert, tellwhat happened?”

whether to tell her about it, but he couldn't bring himself to expose Emma.

After composing themselves, Nora and Robert wiped away their tears and walked into the Davis residence as if
