Chapter 14 Her Past Self
Amanda’s arrogance visibly faltered.
Corynn’s smile widened. “Since you seem to know a lot, Miss Willis, I'm sure you also know that the problem isn’t
me. Instead of wasting both of our tover such pointless conversations, you should keep a closer eye on
Elliot. | would really appreciate it if you can stop him from pestering me.”
She refilled Amanda’s cup after her speech, then stood up.
“Don’t you understand?” Amanda persisted. “I will never be at peace as long as you're around.”
Corynn shrugged. “That's your problem, not mine. Just because you're desperate to keep Elliot, doesn’t mean
you can just expect other people to inconvenience themselves to accommodate you.”
“Why don’t you just get married then? | will only be convinced that you no longer have any interest in Elliot if
you take a husband.”
Amanda already had been toying with this idea long before she had rammed into Corynn’s car. If Corynn agreed
to leave Orelens, then well and good. But if not, then Amanda needed to see her shackled off to someone else so
that Elliot would be dissuaded from rekindling old feelings.

“I saw you with a man last time,” Amanda pressed. “You two seemed like a perfect match.”
Corynn almost clicked her tongue in annoyance. She had no romantic feelings for Jason, only gratitude.
She peered at Amanda, and was suddenly reminded of her old self- constantly on edge, anxious, and insecure.
She was sincere when she said, “I advise you to seek a therapist, Miss Willis. A good therapy session might help
you feel more confident in your relationship.”
Amanda's face darkened. Was Corynn implying she was mentally ill? @
There was no way that could be true!
She was the heiress of the powerful Willis family, for goodness’ sake. She had been born and raised in absolute
luxury.
And Corynn was the first person to ever show her disrespect.
“Corynn,” Amanda said, her eyes narrowed in warning. “If you're not planning to get married, then make sure to
stay away from Elliot. | swear, | won't let it slide if | see you hanging around him again!”
She had always dreamed of marrying Elliot one day, but she hadn't even graduated when rumors began to fly
that he already had a woman in his life. But Amanda refused to accept this, so she begged her father to arrange
a marriage alliance with the Andrews family.
Truth be told, she had expected sresistance from Elliot at first, but to her surprise, the proceedings went
through smoothly.

Chapter 14 Her Past Self
Elliot broke up with Corynn and got engaged to Amanda without a fuss.
Yet here they were, three years into their engagement with no wedding in sight. And now, Corynn was back.
If Amanda had to be honest, it wasn’t really Corynn’s return that was the issue, but Elliot's lingering feelings for
the woman. The thought alone terrified Amanda.
She knew that Corynn was Elliot's first, and she would be a fool if she failed to see the change in his behavior
whenever Corynn was around.
Besides, Amanda had always believed that the hardest person to get over was a man’s first love.

Corynn rolled her eyes in exasperation. Was she really that bad at explaining herself, or did people just have
poor comprehension these days? How many times did she have to repeat the swords to make Amanda
understand?
She didn’t waste her tand energy on this petty argument. Amanda wouldn't believe her anyway. Corynn
grabbed her purse and headed to the door. She paid the bill before she left.
She stepped outside and looked up at the night sky. The stars were plenty tonight, but they did nothing to dispel
the gloom she felt in her chest.
Dealing with people like Amanda and Elliot was so damn draining.
Just then, Corynn’s phone rang. It was her mother this time, asking why she wasn’t hyet and demanding if
she was overworking herself again.
Corynn recounted the traffic accident and reassured her mother. Then she hailed a taxi and told Shirley she
would be hsoon before hanging up.
Knowing that her parents didn’t want her to have any more ties to Elliot, she refrained from mentioning Amanda.
Corynn didn’t want to cause her parents unnecessary stress.
