Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love

Chapter 22 Multiple Resignations

Even as they flew over, Erick remained skeptical. He found it hard to believe that anyone would actually dare to

go against the Willis family’s direct orders.

But his doubts were dispelled as their comprehensive and thorough meeting cto an end.

Mr. McCoy took Corynn and Erick on a tour of his company, and by five in the afternoon, both parties had

signed the acquisition agreement. Mr. McCoy would remain the CEO of his company and retain 20% of shares.

With sighs of relief on both ends, Mr. McCoy and Corynn shook hands.

“I look forward to our cooperation, Miss Harper.”

“Likewise, Mr. McCoy,” Corynn beamed.

Corynn felt a weight lift from her shoulders. Mr. McCoy's company had all the raw materials they needed. The

biggest issue was finally resolved.

After sdeliberation, she decided that it would be best to keep this victory to themselves. They needed to

keep it from Amanda. Corynn cup with a plan, and after discussing it with her father, they both agreed to

have the rest of the manufacturing operations done in Eriford. That way, the Willis family wouldn't be able to

meddle with it easily.

And the entire time, they would maintain the facade of teetering on the edge of bankruptcy over at Orelens.

Corynn and Erick didn’t stay long at Eriford. They wanted to create the impression that their business trip was

unsuccessful.

Sure enough, news of their early return soon reached Amanda. She smirked in satisfaction when she heard it.

Everything was going according to her plan. After all, who would be stupid enough to help the Harper Group at

this point?

Their downfall was inevitable, and it was all Corynn’s own fault for not knowing her place.

It was a rare occasion at the Harper residence, because the family was able to sat down together for a meal.

Company matters had been so hectic that they never had the chance to eat together.

“You can rest easy now, Corynn,” Shirley said, rubbing her daughter's back. She poured her a glass of milk,

hoping that Corynn could finally get a proper sleep and make the dark circles under her eyes disappear.

“You're right, Mom,” Corynn smiled with a mix of confidence and relief. “We will definitely get through this!”

“Let’s all toast to the Harper Group for overcoming the relentless oppression from that damn Willis family!” Erick

tried to reach for the wine bottle, only to stop under his wife's stern gaze. He sat back in his chair with a

sheepish expression.

“Have you forgotten how bad your blood pressure was during your last check-up?” Shirley scolded him.

“I just wanted a few drinks to celebrate our victory,” Erick mumbled,

“Let it go, Dad. Mom is only thinking of your health. We can celebrate with juice instead.”

With much reluctance, Erick motioned for one of the servants to remove the wine from the table.

The last few days really took a toll on Corynn. Exhausted and out of adrenaline, she was sound asleep as soon as

her head hit the pillow.

She was jolted awake early the next morning by the incessant ringing of her phone.

It was the Harper Group’s HR manager.

A good number of engineers, who had been working for the company for over a decade and were basically

essential for operations, had just tendered their resignation.

If they left all at once, the research and development center of the Harper Group would collapse.

Corynn was fully awake in an instant, and she scrambled out of bed. “Stall them for now. I'm on my way.”

She washed up as fast as she could and put on the first clothes she found. She grabbed her car keys and dashed

to the door, not bothering to eat breakfast.

Shirley cout of the kitchen just in tto see Corynn rushing out the front door. “At least take a piece of

bread with you, dear!”

But Corynn didn’t even hear her. Her mind was focused on this new hurdle waiting for her at the company.

They had returned to Orelens late last night. They didn’t have enough tto inform the key figures of the

company that they had found a solution to all the major troubles.

Corynn sped through a highway, cutting down what was supposed to be a forty-minute drive to just under

twenty.

She ran into the building, hearing the commotion before she even got through the revolving doors.

“Why should we stay in a company that’s about to go bankrupt?”

“Exactly! Approve our resignation and let us go already. | have an interview with another company this

afternoon!”

The HR manager, Tia, was trying her best to appease the irate engineers. “Please wait for just a few minutes.

Miss Harper will be here shortly to address your concerns.”

“What's left to discuss?” Nick, one of the engineer, countered sharply. “No amount of assurance would keep the

Harper Group from going bankrupt!”
