Chapter 28 Turning The
Tables
On the TV screen, Corynn handled the reporter's questions with absolute calm.
“Lettackle this one at a time. The matter of declaring bankruptcy-there will be no such thing. As the
representative of the Harper Group, I've communicated clearly with all of our brand partners. The goods were
delivered successfully, and right on schedule.”
The company had deployed the shipment as agreed. If the partners decided to take them, they were welcome
to it. But if not, the advance payment would remain with the Harper Group.
“As for the mass resignations, it was a mutual agreement on both the employees’ and the management's sides.”
Corynn smiled at the camera as she said this, as if she was addressing the employees directly. “Said staff felt
that they could no longer work with the Harper Group, and we very well cannot force them to stay, so they
were let go.”
A female reporter raised her hand and said, “Someone placed thirty million on Harper Group for the online
bets. Would you like to comment on that, Miss Harper?”
“Sure. | am very grateful to those who put their trust in our company. | really appreciate it, and we in Harper
Group shall strive to meet your expectations.”
Corynn herself had placed ten million on Harper Group from the very start. She was practically being handed
an exorbitant amount of money for free, so she thought it was only right that she accepted it.

With odds at one hundred to one, and more than two billion already bet on the Willis family, her ten million
bet could secure one billion in working capital for Harper Group.
Her smile widened at the thought.
With the way things had turned out, she felt a strong urge to thank Amanda for all her efforts. If the woman
hadn’t worked so hard to thwart the Harper Group at every turn, Corynn wouldn't have been able to reach her
business goals so soon after inheriting the company.
So that’s exactly what she did. “I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Miss Willis,” she said to the
press.
Over at Amanda's place, she began to hyperventilate as she watched Corynn on the TV. In a sudden bout of
rage, she grabbed her phone and threw it at the TV. shattering the screen. It glitched, freezing on Corynn’s
bright smile for a few seconds before turning completely black.
That last image felt like a direct taunt to Amanda. As if she wasn’t furious enough that her efforts to suppress
Harper Group had the exact opposite effect.
Daniela watched in silence as Amanda fumed.

Neither woman had expected Corynn to turn the tables so masterfully.
Not only did the Harper Group not go bankrupt, but the wide media coverage of the company’s financial status
had ultimately caused its popularity to soar. In fact, the company was among the top trending topics on the
Internet, giving it more reach that extended beyond its chosen industry.
For the most part, the public was praising Corynn for her strategic success. She was even called a genius by
some, a rising star and a legendary figure in the business scene.
“That bitch humiliated me! No, she has humiliated the entire Willis family!” Amanda ranted through gritted
teeth, her eyes flashing with rage.
“Don’t worry too much about it, Amanda,” Daniela soothed her. “We'll just have to think of another plan to deal
with that wench.”
Corynn’s smug smile seemed to have branded itself into Amanda’s brain. It was all she could think about, and
how she wanted to destroy it. She wanted to make sure that Corynn would never smile again. @

Amanda’s anger only abated after she finished a couple of glasses of ice-cold water.
She reminded herself who she was, and what her surnstood for. No one could slight her and walk away
without getting their retribution.
She would never let Corynn get away with this.
“What do you suggest we do now?”
Daniela fell deep in thought for several minutes. Then she whispered a newly-hatched plan into Amanda’s ear,
whose lips curled into a smile as she took in every word.
“Yes, very good!” Amanda exclaimed. “Let’s do it your way this time. Ill contact my men right away!”
“No, we can’t act yet!” Daniela protested.
Amanda frowned and looked at her quizzically.
“Corynn is currently in the spotlight. Let her have her moment. It will make her inevitable downfall all the
sweeter.”
That made sense to Amanda, so she agreed to hold off until the twas right.
For now, she would begrudgingly allow Corynn to bask in her glory. After all, the higher she flew, the harder she
would eventually fall.
