Corynn pinched the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes.
She wasn’t sure whether she should be angry or relieved.
On the one hand, the man she had slept with was no stranger at all. On the other, she had just got herself
entangled with Elliot yet again.
She waved Lila away with a weary sigh. She needed stto sort her thoughts and feelings out.
Deep down, Corynn knew she could only blherself for getting so drunk. Besides, given their history,
confronting Elliot about the incident was simply out of the question.
In the end, she decided to just move on and pretend that nothing happened.
It wasn’t as if she had incurred much loss, anyway.
The days that followed were surprisingly calm. The Willis family had been silent since the last trick they had
pulled on her, and Amanda hadn't made any contact, either. For sreason, Corynn found the silence on their
end rather unsettling.
As the day of the product launch approached, she becquite apprehensive.
If Amanda was actually planning to retaliate, the launch would be the perfect tto do it.
Considering how their camp had been keeping a low profile, there was a high chance that they were waiting for
the right tto strike.

Meanwhile, on the Elliot front, Corynn had been expecting him to cause sruckus after their most recent
encounter. Luckily, he stayed on his lane and behaved.
Corynn was on high alert on the day of the product launch. She sat right in front of the stage, constantly looking
around for any potential disruptions.
Industry giants were in attendance, which meant that there was a significant media presence as well. None of
the Harper Group's previous launches had drawn so much attention, especially from the press. Still feeling
uneasy, Corynn took out her phone, intending to message the security team to be extra vigilant.
Sure enough, as the emcee rambled on about the products selling points, the doors of the venue suddenly burst
open.
“Fraud! Give us our money back!”

“Your bogus products ruined my wife's face! Everyone, cand see for yourselves!”
A small crowd had stormed into the hall, yelling and shaking their fists.
The cameras that had been pointing toward the stage quickly changed directions and focused on these
gatecrashers. And since the invitation had been issued, they shamelessly zoomed in on the wife's face.
“Oh, gosh!! Her face...”
Even the most seasoned reporters couldn’t help but gasp and recoil from what they saw.
The woman's face was filled with acne. Her pimples were unusually large, and sof them were even oozing
with pus. It was horrifying and gross.
Egged on by their reaction, the man beceven more impassioned with his demands.
“Well? You think it's disgusting, too, right? I'm telling you, my wife used to be the most gorgeous woman in our
village! But then she discovered Harper Group's products and began to use them. Look at her now!”
He grabbed his wife's hand and pulled her forward so that the cameras could get a better close-up shot of her
face. “There! Let everyone know that the Harper Group put toxic garbage out in the market for the public to
consume!”
The woman sobbed quietly. One would be inclined to think that it was out of shame, but oddly enough, she
made no move to hide her face.
“Jesus! This is crazy!” Someone cried out.
“Oh, my God! | just bought sof the cosmetics the Harper Group sells! I'm throwing them out once | get
home. | don’t want my face to end up like that!”
“Yes, throw them away! How can anyone stomach to use that kind of stuff?”
A buzz went around the crowd, and they seemed to share the snegative sentiments toward the company.
Corynn’s eyes turned cold. Just as she had expected, Amanda was indeed up to something.

“Fraud! Get off the stage!” another person shouted at the emcee. It was soon followed by a collective jeer from
the rest of the audience.
“How dare you hold an event after knowingly selling products that are harmful to the customers? So shameless!”
“Get someone from Harper Group out here! Give us an explanation, here and now!”
“You people need to restore the poor woman's face! You stole her beauty, now give it back!”
“You are a menace to society! You deserve to go out of business!”
In the midst of all this uproar, Corynn motioned for the emcee to leave the stage.
Corynn herself left shortly after. Despite the people’s demands, it wasn’t the right tor place to make a
statement and clear the company’s name.
By the tshe exited the building, the slanderous reports were already making rounds on all the social media
platforms.
