Chapter 451 The Villains Take Action
Dean grew impatient and demanded, "Whose call is it?"
Sophia knew she couldn't avoid it any longer, so she answered the phone, lowering the voland frowning as
she turned to Dean.
"Why are you so curious? It's my mom. I'll take it."
With that, Sophia showed him the screen. Dean saw the contact labeled "Mom" and relaxed, lying back on the
bed.
Sophia took the phone into the bathroom.
She closed the door and then turned the microphone back on. "What do you want?"
Sophia had no patience for Evelyn. Despite the contact being labeled "Mom," the number was from Emerald City
Psychiatric Hospital, easily traceable.
With the Brown Corporation's collapse and Hayden's downfall, the Brown family was no longer what it used to be.
To make matters worse, Sophia now had a mother in a psychiatric hospital, which she found deeply
embarrassing.
Evelyn always called from that number, and Sophia often ignored the calls, fearing Dean might find out. Out of
five calls, she would answer maybe one.
This infuriated Evelyn every time.
"If you don't need this phone, you might as well throw it away! Why do you never answer my calls, Sophia? Are
you doing this on purpose?"

Evelyn never spoke gently. Sometimes Sophia wondered if she was really Evelyn and Hayden's daughter or their
enemy.
"Get to the point. I'm busy." Sophia kept her voice as low as possible. She didn't want Dean to hear, nor did she
want to waste ttalking to Evelyn.
But Evelyn wouldn't let her off easily, especially since Sophia hadn't visited her since she was admitted to the
psychiatric hospital.
Evelyn couldn't understand how the daughter she had painstakingly raised could be so ungrateful.
"When are you going to visit me? Sophia, how can you be so heartless? Do you not recognizeas your mother
anymore?"
Sophia knew Evelyn would always say the sfew things every tshe called. She was tired of hearing it and
didn't want to respond, so she bluntly said, "Why should | visit? Do you wantto go crazy too? Emerald City
Psychiatric Hospital is the best place for you. Don't draginto it!"
Evelyn couldn't stand being spoken to like that and started yelling again. "I told you, I'm not crazy! Sophia, you
disappointso much!
"You left a good life abroad to cback and chase after Michael, and what happened? He dumped you and
went after Emily instead.
"Don't think | don't know what's going on just because I'm in a psychiatric hospital. You can't even compete with
her. It's like God is deliberately making sure you don't win."
Sophia couldn't take her mother cursing her, especially about Emily. She couldn't hold back her anger any longer
and shouted,
"Evelyn, have you said enough? No matter how bad | am, I'm still your daughter! Emily's successful because she
has a good mom. How can you even compare? | don't know what Dad saw in you..."
Before Evelyn could respond, Sophia hung up the phone.
She was breathing heavily, clearly furious with no outlet for her anger.
At that moment, Dean walked in, leaning against the doorfrwith a smirk, teasing Sophia, "Is that how you
talk to your mom?"

Sophia couldn't take it anymore. She threw her phone to the ground.
She turned around, her demeanor completely changed, and snapped at Dean, "None of your business!"
With that, she pushed past Dean and stormed out of the room.
The door slammed shut, leaving the room in complete silence.
Dean remained leaning against the sink, a casual smile on his face as he glanced at the shattered phone on the
floor, recalling Sophia's words.
"Evelyn, Emerald City Psychiatric Hospital... and that Emily... What's the connection here? Interesting, very
interesting." Muttering to himself, Dean's smile widened.
He left the bathroom, grabbed his clothes from the bed, and followed Sophia out of the suite.
When Andrew knocked on the hospital room door, Michael had just woken up.
He seemed much calmer than he had been at noon. His arm, freshly bandaged, was immobile, and he sat
quietly, passing the time.

As soon as he entered, he spoke to Michael, "Mr. Smith, we've successfully filed the case. Rest assured, the
Emerald City police will follow the leads we've provided and find the culprit."
Michael nodded, rubbing his nose as he spoke to Andrew, "Make sure to handle this carefully. We can't alert the
suspect. By the way, how has Sophia been these past few days? I've asked you to keep an eye on her."
Michael had long suspected Sophia but lacked sufficient evidence.
Andrew quickly responded, "She's been staying with Dean at the hotel. They haven't gone out much, ordering
takeout for meals."
Michael nodded.
Reflecting on the unpleasant past, a hint of self-mockery appeared on his face.
"She's living it up," Michael sneered.
Just then, Andrew's phone rang again. He answered it, and whatever was said made his expression change.
Michael noticed something was wrong and immediately asked, "What happened?"
Andrew hung up and quickly reported to Michael. "Mr. Smith, Sophia has left the hotel. She's heading towards
Mrs. Smith's location."
"What?" Michael instantly tensed up.
Ignoring his need for rest, he jumped out of bed, put on his shoes, and prepared to leave the hospital.
"Mr. Smith, you can't..."
Andrew saw Michael stumbling and quickly supported him.
"We need to follow her. Emily might be in danger!" Michael couldn't care less. At that moment, nothing was more
important to him than Emily's safety.
