Chapter 631 Rosie paused at Hendrix's words. Then, she turned to look at him.
"Where did you take Mommy?" Rosie asked.
"You want to see her, don't you?" Hendrix countered.
Rosie didn't respond.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Or are you angry at her?" Hendrix continued. "Because of what she did that day?" "No!" Rosie quickly replied. Then, in a softer voice, she said, "I'll never be angry at Mommy. But she hates me." As she spoke, her voice choked up.
Hendrix chuckled softly. "What nonsense are you talking about? How could your mommy ever hate you?" Rosie didn't say anything else.
She was clearly traumatized by what happened at Seline's funeral. After all, Noelle was the one who had always protected her and who never raised her voice at her, no matter what she did wrong. Yet, that day, she had seemed so different.
Rosie couldn't understand why Noelle had changed. Even more so, she couldn't understand why those people kept saying she should have been the one who died or why Noelle thought so, too.
"Your mommy is just sick," Hendrix explained gently. "Because she lost her best friend, and she doesn't know how to handle it, so she becsick." Rosie turned to look at him.
"Don't blher," Hendrix added. "She's always protected you, so this time, can you protect her instead?" "How can I protect her?" "Help her," Hendrix replied. "Help her get better. Pull her out of this darkness, okay?" Rosie looked at him with red-rimmed eyes. She seemed to be asking him what she was supposed to do. Hendrix smiled at her. "You just need to make her happy. You can do that, right?" Rosie didn't answer.
Hendrix glanced at her hands, blackened from the crayons, and pulled out a wet wipe to clean them. But Rosie quickly pulled her hands back, looking at him warily.
"I know you still don't like me," Hendrix said. "But I'm worried about your mommy, and so are you, right? So, can we call a truce for now? Once your mommy gets better you can go back to disliking me, okay?" Rosie remained silent, though her expression seemed to suggest she was willing to concede to a truce for now.
Only then was Hendrix able to take her hands and carefully wipe each finger clean.
"When can I see Mommy?" Rosie asked.

Hendrix looked at the little finger stretched out to him, momentarily stunned Then, Somewhat clumsily, he hooked his pinky around hers. "We need to seal it," Rosie added.
But Hendrix didn't understand what
she meant. For a moment, he thought she meant his personal seal. He was about to say he didn't have it with him when Rosie pressed her thumb against his. "It's sealed. No going back on your words, or else, I'll hate you forever."
As Rosie finished speaking, Hendrix finally understood good what sealing m meant. He paused for a moment, then slowly smiled and replied, "Okay. I won't go back on my word." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliI0fiflO&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
